What a long strange trip it&#8217;s been since the Haight-Ashbury days of psychedelia. An era marked by Bill Graham&#8217;s Fillmore, the Monterey festival, the &#8220;Summer of Love&#8221;, the Trips festival, the &#8220;Gathering of the Tribes&#8221;, and the music of the Grateful Dead, Big Brother &amp; the Holding Company with Janis Joplin, Country Joe &amp; The Fish, and of course the Airplane. Heady stuff. We celebrate Paul Kantner with this iconic image by <strong><a href=\"\/en\/art-kane-f8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Art Kane<\/a><\/strong> which in 1968 made the cover of an historic issue of &#8220;Life&#8221; magazine devoted to &#8220;The New Rock&#8221;.
